Taking Digital to the
Field
Many photographers assume that the switching to digital
simply means changing equipment and using a digital camera instead of film.
Many also assume that digital is cheaper than film. These philosophies couldn't
be farther from the truth. The entire process of digital is different from
analog. Even the most advanced photographers remain digital newbies. This
seminar will seek to explore the benefits and the pitfalls of using digital
on location from image capture to delivery. Seth will discuss hardware, software,
shooting tips, Photoshop tips, pre-press techniques, color management, archiving,
workflow, meta data, copyright, and most importantly how to make money with
the business side of shooting digital. One thing that photographers desperately
need is education on how to charge for digital capture, delivery and how
to make it a profitable part of business. Seth's lecture is all about that.
The fact that some photographers aren't even charging for much of the digital
work they do is a huge danger to all of us and to remaining in business after
the whole medium finally abandons analog. If there is any new business side
of photography on the horizon that photogs sorely need education on, this
is it. Find out if location digital is an answer for your needs. This lecture
is for all levels of photographers but it will concentrate on advanced film
based photographers considering digital as a solution.

LETTERS FROM PARTICIPANTS:
Tony Arruza
A year ago I made the decision that changed my photography
business in an extremely positive manner. I decided to attend a business
and photography workshop by Seth Resnick.
Believe me, I know that it is not an easy decision to
make. The workshop will cost you money and time. I remember signing up
for the workshop and then canceling, foregoing my deposit. He stressed
the impact it would have on my career. I've never regret the decision.

Seth's warm, open and fun nature create a learning environment
that is incredibly stimulating and inspirational. He showed me that anything
is possible and what it takes to move my career to the next level.
In his class, you will prepare to handle many situations. Seth opened
my eyes to different, simple lighting techniques that I'd never considered.
He took us to great locations and shared ways of approaching shooting
that have proved very useful since his class.
Seth, referred to by many highly accomplished photographers as "the
best business man I know" generously shares strategies and techniques that
when implemented, will help you grow your business in the most professional
way possible.
After Seth's class, I feel I have the knowledge and confidence to
move forward with my career. The only warning: be prepared to have
a lot of fun and sleep very little!

As a 26-year veteran commercial shooter who had attended two of Seth
Resnick's evening or day-long seminars fairly recently prior to spending
the week with him in Santa Fe, I wasn't sure just what I would gain through
the experience. I only knew that I wanted to spend more time in his amazing
energy field and absorb some of his marvelous negotiating ability and
to broaden my awareness of the real meaning of "win-win." These goals
were amply met in Santa Fe, but the real surprise was the subtle effect
on me of sharing the week with 15 wonderful photographers from all over
the US (and Turkey!) Somehow, the experiences of the week changed me,
broadened me, inspired me in ways that are only now, months later, becoming
apparent.
Thank you, Seth and everybody, for "shakin' me up."

As a newcomer
to freelancing, I knew Seth's class would help my back-office
no matter what.
What I didn't count on was just how much it reignited my
creative eye.
Needless to say, Seth and the other participants made the week go by in
a flash, even with 20 hour days!

experience!

Let me just
say that Seth Resnick’s workshop is phenomenal. What impressed me
about Seth and his workshop? Was it his obvious expertise of complex,
highly technical wiz-bang computer intricacies? Or perhaps his own unique
eye when crafting a photograph by subtly combining light and image and composition?
Is it his boundless (i.e. illimitable, infinite, gregarious) energy level
that inspires? (translation, never sleep) Could it have been that he shares
all of this with his students with amazing generosity? Is it the group of
other accomplished professionals in the class that contribute to the
learning experience as well as to the joviality? It is all of those
things, because these assets are yours if you take Seth’s workshop. As for
me, it is Seth’s in-depth knowledge of the very best Cabernets, what year,
which vineyard and where to get them.
Seriously,
I have been a photographer for 20 years, 10 of those as freelance. As
I embark on the 2nd half of my chosen passion and profession as a photographer,
Seth’s workshop gave me a crucial map to study, carry and refer to along
the way. Highly recommended.
